Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions include:
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

What data do we collect? We will collect your name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, payment information.
How do we collect it? We collect opt-in verbally from our customers. They can opt-in to receive messages either in person at our physical location, or over the phone if they call our business. When interacting with customers, staff is trained to ask if the customer would like to opt in to messaging using the following script: “By providing your phone number and agreeing to receive texts, you consent to receive text messages from Amy E. Why do we need this information and how do we use it? Contact information is used to schedule and confirm appointments. Payment information is used for billing purposes. Mailing address may be used for billing/invoice purposes.
How long do we retain your information? We retain your information as long as you are subscribed to our SMS service. You may request deletion at any time.
Do we share our client information with anyone? Client information is never shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information may be shared only per the confidentiality exceptions listed above. Amy E. Scott, Psy.D. will not sell, rent, or share the collected mobile numbers.
How can clients opt-out of communications with us? Clients may opt out of SMS service at any time by texting/replying STOP. After unsubscribing, you will receive final SMS to confirm you have unsubscribed and we will remove your number from our list within 24 hours.
